Vaquero joined Moose Ridge Farm in June of 2018 and quickly became a beloved presence in our herd and hearts. A striking 16.1 hand Appendix Quarter Horse with a lifetime of show miles behind him, Vaquero had spent his youth flying over jumps on the New England circuit and was beautifully trained through Second Level Dressage. But it wasn’t just his athleticism or skill that made him special—it was his sensitivity, intelligence, and steady spirit that touched us most deeply.

He had the same soulful eyes and quiet humor as our cherished Lucky, and like Pedro, a mischievous streak that made everyone smile. Quick to learn and eager to connect, Vaquero thrived with clicker training and delighted in the trust and partnership it fostered. Whether working with a confident rider or simply sharing space in the barn, he brought a grounded wisdom that lifted those around him.

Vaquero was more than a lesson horse—he was a teacher, a friend, and a mirror for those willing to listen. He reminded us to slow down, to connect with care, and to celebrate even the smallest moments of grace. His spirit continues to ripple through Moose Ridge Farm in the rustle of the trees, the rhythm of hoofbeats, and the quiet strength he left behind.
