Steady Soul | Beloved Mare | Heart of the Farm
Apple Field was the kind of mare you don’t meet twice in a lifetime—gentle, wise, endlessly kind. She joined Moose Ridge Farm in 2006 and spent over a decade quietly shaping the hearts of students, friends, and horses alike. Always steady, always listening, Apple was the heartbeat of the barn, a grounding presence who taught lessons with patience and grace.
She adored the handsome geldings, always nickered at a familiar face, and had an eye for mischief—especially when loose horses were on the move, which she dutifully reported. She was easy to love and even easier to trust. Whether being groomed, saddled, or bridled, Apple gave her all, every time.
She taught countless riders the rhythm of connection, the feel of balance, the courage to try again. She taught Bea to teach. She taught Mazy and others to lunge. She was Annie-Sue’s beloved auntie and Lucky’s barn wedding bride. She tolerated Pedro, doted on Genie and Vaquero, and admired Radu—so long as the boys gave her space.
Apple wasn’t just a lesson horse—she was a mentor. A therapist. A friend. Her quiet leadership extended far beyond the arena, and her spirit lingers in every gentle nudge, every slow breath shared between horse and human. Though we miss her deeply, her legacy lives on in all who were lucky enough to know her.
Thank you, Apple, for everything. You are forever part of Moose Ridge Farm.
