Summer 2026 Dog Training Classes at Moose Ridge Farm

News flash! ⚡️ Positive-reinforcement clicker-training classes begin the week of June 8, 2026, at Moose Ridge Farm.

Summer puppy and adult dog-training classes combine positive reinforcement, obedience, movement, and simple agility around the farm.

Join us for Manners and Movement, a six-week course combining practical obedience skills, movement exercises, training patterns, and simple agility obstacles. Classes will take place throughout the farm so dogs can practice responding in different real-life environments, including the indoor arena, barn aisle, office, fenced backyard, and around the farm pond.

Summer Class Schedule

Puppy Class: Mondays from 6:00–7:00 p.m.
Adult Dog Class: Tuesdays from 6:00–7:00 p.m.

These are family dog-training classes, so children are welcome and encouraged to participate. Training is most successful when everyone in the household understands how to use the same cues, reinforce good choices, and help the dog learn the family’s rules and routines.

New clients are encouraged to schedule one or two private in-home lessons before beginning group classes. These sessions provide time to learn the foundations of clicker training, practice the timing of the click and reward, ask questions, and prepare both dog and handler for a group setting.

I have used and taught positive-reinforcement training with horses for more than 23 years, working with my own equines, boarders, and riding students. I have also taken three of my dogs through obedience, agility, and flyball classes, and each earned a Canine Good Citizen certificate.

My two one-year-old Jack Russell Terriers are currently working through my own clicker-training program, giving me plenty of opportunities to practice, experiment, and continue learning. I also recently spent three incredibly informative days at the Karen Pryor Clicker Expo, attending lectures on animal behavior and dog training and gathering many new tools and ideas to share with my canine and human students.

Come train your dog, build new skills, and enjoy a unique learning experience at the farm!

Alexandra Mackenzie Doan

Positively Reinforcing good horse and dog behavior

Moose Ridge Farm is located in Lincolnville, Maine just 15 minutes from the coast. A small Dressage Barn where ground work and under saddle work come together to create deeper understanding between horse and rider through clicker training. The horses are able to move around 24/7 in paddocks adjoining their stalls and in the fields. There is a lovely sunny indoor arena, heated tack room and warm water in the wash stall. Horses are given hay 4x day and stalls are fluffy. Alexandra has been clicker training horses for 23 years - her personal horses, her boarders and her riding students. She loves putting the puzzle pieces of animal behavior and training of equines and canines together, not only worki.n with the animals but also coaching the humans. Dog classes, though new to the farm, are not new to her. She grew up with dogs and cats, has raised 3 dogs the past 25 years and is a true animal lover. Positive Reinforcement training is fun and encourages kind, clear communication within boundaries.
