New Mini Kids on the Block: Welcome Flynn and Fitz!

Our new friends have arrived!

We are so excited to welcome Flynn and Fitz to Moose Ridge Farm for a six-week stay. Flynn is the little brown fellow who was previously called Scout, and Fitz is the pinto formerly known as Weezer. Their new names are perfect for the beginning of their next chapter together. 💙💙

The boys came to us through Horses With Hope, a wonderful equine rescue and retraining organization based in Hope, Maine. Their thoughtful work includes evaluating and retraining rescued equines before helping them find safe, loving, lifelong homes. We are so grateful for the time, knowledge, and care they invested in Flynn and Fitz… and for everything they do for horses in need.

Flynn and Fitz are incredibly lucky to have their new mama, Gabe, who is already wonderful with them. She is kind, patient, and attentive, and it has been lovely to watch their relationship begin to grow as the boys explore their new surroundings.

Of course, the rest of the Moose Ridge Farm herd has been very interested in meeting the newcomers!

Jackie appears to be completely in love and was eager to introduce herself. Annie has already decided that someone needs to keep the new boys in line, while Cricket seems especially happy to have a few more friends her own size.

There is always an adjustment period when new horses arrive, but Flynn and Fitz are settling in, meeting their neighbors, and beginning to make friends in the Moose Ridge Farm family.

We are delighted to have them here and cannot wait to watch their new adventure unfold.

Positively Reinforcing good horse and dog behavior

Moose Ridge Farm is located in Lincolnville, Maine just 15 minutes from the coast. A small Dressage Barn where ground work and under saddle work come together to create deeper understanding between horse and rider through clicker training. The horses are able to move around 24/7 in paddocks adjoining their stalls and in the fields. There is a lovely sunny indoor arena, heated tack room and warm water in the wash stall. Horses are given hay 4x day and stalls are fluffy. Alexandra has been clicker training horses for 23 years - her personal horses, her boarders and her riding students. She loves putting the puzzle pieces of animal behavior and training of equines and canines together, not only worki.n with the animals but also coaching the humans. Dog classes, though new to the farm, are not new to her. She grew up with dogs and cats, has raised 3 dogs the past 25 years and is a true animal lover. Positive Reinforcement training is fun and encourages kind, clear communication within boundaries.
